Coming from a expert full of knowledge who has helped me and who could possibly
help you, I interviewed a Registered Nurse, RN, who gave me some helpful advice
and answered some questions I would have not been able to answer:
1. What is it in our bodies that makes us sick until we are immuned to it?
2. Why can't our bodies adapt to the environment without getting sick?
3. What can we do to adapt to the college environment?
4. Are there certain vitamins we should take to help our bodies? If so, what are they?
5. If a student does not get enough sleep, what is it that makes us get
sick?
6. What are the most common sicknesses a student gets when first stepping
foot on campus?
7. Where are the places where a student can get the
most germs from?
8. If a student can stay healthy for a full year, is
that normal?
9. Is washing your hands the best thing to do to prevent us
from getting sick?
10. Is there something better than soap to keep the
germs away?
Answers:
1. Your immune system will try to detect what it thinks is foreign to it, then it
will begin to attack it. Sometimes your immune system is comprimised, so
it is unable to attack-allowing the bacteria, viruses, etc. to attack your
system.
2. Sometimes your bodies immune system just cannot identify what
it is being exposed to, and just a tiny bit of immune system weakening,
and it opens the door.
3. Keep your immune system running in a more alkaline side, keep eating raw foods such
as fruits and veggies. Push alot of water. Keep your body happy with exercise
as much as possible. Without all the boosters, your system will again become
more weak.
4. Vitamin C, Lysine, and Vitamin D3. All of these will boost
your immune system, and allow you to fight most common
infections.
5 .Lack of sleep will leave you prone to colds and flu.
Adequate sleep will actually keep your immune system primed for
attack.
6. Colds and flu, foodborne illnesses, mononucleosis.
7. Most common places-door handles, sinks, toilets, your own dorm room, and
community areas with your dorm building.
8. I would think some do stay healthy over the course of the
year, but physical stress is huge for hurting
your immune system, and with
all the many germs to pick up, I would say you
must be a very healthy
person, to stay well for a full year.
9. Most important to WASH, WASH,
WASH!
10.Antimicrobial soap will be your first line of attack, however
always keep hand sanitizer (cootie killer) in your
purse or on your person if you can. STAY HEALTHY!
